Podcasting

For this assignment I had to make a podcast on any subject I wanted so I decided to get partnered up with Jack and do a podcast on conspiracy theories. we started off by researching conspiracy theories so that we had a better understanding of how to make and structure our podcast, we ended up doing our research for the podcast on reddit which is were we got our conspiracy theory subjects to talk about. Once we had done our research I then made a proposal for our idea where as jack made a pitch so that we could present our idea to James professionally. I then made a script of how our podcast should go, we then recorded the podcast in the green room. After we had recorded it we then started editing it getting rid of any dead air residing in the podcast.

EVALUATION

In evaluation I think our podcast went very well and I think this for many reason one being this was the first podcast that I’ve ever made so it was like a learning experience also another reason being timing, this is because we did this during filming week meaning we had very limited time when it came to making and editing this podcast. Even though it was our first podcast after editing it I thought it sounded very professional which just goes to show what an easy task it is to make a podcast along with how boring it is to edit it. Over all I enjoyed making it and talking about and giving my opinion on conspiracy theories I hated editing it due to it being extremely boring and extremely time consuming and I think this is the reason why it was such a good learning experience because I now know what it’s like to make one and what  I like and dislike about the process of making it. However despite hating the editing I also found it very interesting how when you edit and cut out places it can sound so different to how it was originally made but that’s the magic of editing for you. Now that I’ve wrote about what I liked and disliked about the process I’m now going to evaluate on what I would do differently next time, so if I had to make another podcast next time the main thing I would probably change is the long pauses and this is because not only does it sound very awkward and you lose your train of thought it is also a massive pain to go though all the silences when editing. I would also probably use an app that would do all of the technical stuff for me so that it would be a more efficient process. Another thing I would do differently is either do it at home when I have time or I would do it before filming week which I feel like the reason for why the podcast is so short and not thoroughly checked through. I also think that it would be better if I did it with a lot more people the next time then there’s less silence and your also more likely to strike up and engage in a conversation if you’re in a group of about 3-4 people. Personally I think I could improve up on being a lot more louder and clearer where s I think jack could improve up on being less louder. Over all the podcast was a ok experience I wouldn’t say bad because it was fun making it but I wouldn’t say good either due to when it was filmed and edited and how much time it took up. Also I think if I were to do this again I’d talk about a lot more topics to fill in the time. I think id also add some music during the podcast rather than at the beginning and end next time.
