Production Diary for my FMP (Final Major Project)

 Production Diary

This is a Diary I am going to write over the next few weeks to inform my tutor and everyone else of how my filming will go, hopefully it will all go perfect, fingers crossed.

WEEK ONE

Tuesday 4th of May

Today I held auditions in the studio room which started at 12:15 and finished at 13:15. Me and Jack Fowler (my script supervisor) went through each of the actors individually to ensure they didn't get distracted and to make sure that they knew the lines for the character they wished to play. The first person we auditioned was Ethan Brown who wanted to play the role of Eren, he seemed to know all the lines pretty well so after discussing with my Jack I decided to I give him the part, I then got him to sign a release form and a casting contact sheet. I then called the next actor in. The next actor I auditioned was Henry Walton who wanted to play the role of Daniel, due to the fact that he knew all of the character lines and looked the part I decided to cast him for the role and got him to sign a release form and fill out a casting contact sheet. I then called the next actor in. The next actor I audition was Joshua Durnall who wanted to play the role of Gavin, after listing to him read both pages of the script I sent him I felt like he was the perfect choice mainly because of the emotional way he portrayed the character so like the others i got him to sign a release form and casting contact sheet. The final person I was going to auction was Tamara mills who wanted to play the role of Emily however she unfortunately felt ill and had went home so I decided that I'll audition her tomorrow.

Wednesday 5th of May

Today I auditioned Tamara Mills in the green screen room at 10:15 and it only lasted till 10:30 because Tamara luckily knew all of her lines, the fact that she knew all of Emily's lines perfectly i decided to cast her for the role and as I did with the other actors i got her to sign a release form and a casting contact sheet.

WEEK TWO

Thursday 13th of May

Today Me and Jack who is my Script supervisor and Director of photography started to film for my FMP. Filming started at 1pm so we went to the studio room at 12:30 to collect the equipment (camera, headphones, batteries etc.) so that we were ready to film at 1pm. I decide to film scene 4 first because that was the longest one so Me and Jack went to the classroom I had booked (room 225) and got the equipment set up. At 1pm when the actors arrived we ran through script to make sure they knew what they were doing. after having everyone sat in their places I realized that I needed extras to make the classroom look somewhat full so I quickly walked to the dance studio and asked if anyone could be an extra luckily Sophie Ashcroft said that she would help however due to a show being on during filming I wasn't allowed to use anymore of the actors so I decided that I would be an extra as well whilst directing it. We began filming and after every shot I would check the footage to make sure it was what I wanted after 2hrs of filming and getting different camera angles I finally finished scene 4 so I let the actors go for a quick 15 minute break whilst Me and Jack go everything set up to film scene 3, after their break the actors met us in the corridor and we started to film scene 3, the camera was starting to lose power but luckily scene 3 was only 6 shots so I managed to get all of it filmed before the camera gave out, I finished filming at 4:15pm with both scene 3 and 4 filmed. I then went and put all of the equipment I used back and uploaded all of the footage off the SD card on to my hard drive and went home.

WEEK THREE

Monday 17th of May

Today I got to college at 9:30am so that I could get all the equipment ready to start filming at 10am. I then went to my classroom and waited for Jack and the actors to turn up. The actors turned up 5 minutes later and because Jack (my script supervisor and Director of photography) hadn't turned up yet I decided to walk to my filming location and get everything set up I then sent him a text and told him were to meet me and I started to film, he then turned up 5 minutes later so I gave the camera to him which making it a lot easier for me to direct the actors and we continued filming. surprisingly filming only took 2hrs and because my filming slot was  still booked in for another hour I decided that it would be best to get scene 1 done now and out the way rather than next week so I went I let the actors go n a 15 minute break and went to go collect all the actors needed for scene 1 which was only Henry Walton and thankfully Kelly let him come with me to go film scene 1. We then went to the location and got scene 1 filmed and out the way. I then went back to class and uploaded the footage onto my hard drive whilst Jack went to go put the equipment away I then I went home.

Tuesday 18th of May

Today I was filming scene 6 at 1pm so I got to college at 12:15 and went to go collect the equipment for filming, I then got on with some course work whilst I waited for Jack and the actors to turn up. Once everyone turned up we all headed to location and set up the equipment, I then went through the actors lines with them so they knew what thy were doing and then I started filming. Filming finished about 1hr and a half later and because I finished in lesson time I went back and put all the equipment away and uploaded everything on to my hard drive and then I got on with course work until lesson had ended and then I went home.

WEEK 4

Monday 24th of May

Today I got to college early around 9:30am so that I had time to collect the equipment and update the actors on where we were filming and then I waited for Jack and we headed to the filming location and met the actors there. We then started to film scene 5 which took a little bit longer than I would have liked however I got it done and I went back to class and uploaded all the footage on to my hard drive. After that I went to put all the equipment back and then went home with a smile on my face knowing I got all my scenes filmed basically that's a wrap for my filming.
